Kathina Day celebrates the completion of the 3 month rains retreat. To celebrate, the lay community offer the monastic community gifts of robes and supplies.
Kathina is an annual Buddhist festival marking the end of the three-month rainy season retreat (Vassa), during which lay followers offer new robes and other necessities to monks and nuns in a ceremony that strengthens the bond between monastic and lay communities.
