Asalha Puja Day holds a special place in the Theravada Buddhist calendar as one of its most revered festivals. This auspicious occasion marks the momentous day when Buddha delivered his inaugural sermon, known as the Dhammacakkappavatta Sutta, to five former ascetics. This profound discourse, which took place at the Deer Park in Benares, India, introduced the foundational doctrine of the Four Noble Truths, setting in motion the wheel of dharma.
